KPM INTENSIVE BUBBLE 2021

July 26 - August 1, 2021 in Klaipėda, Lithuania

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation and the difficulties associated with planning events or travel long in advance, we have decided to suspend our usual summer program until 2022. Instead we welcome pianists to take part in our first intensive workshop dedicated to the development of core pianist skills, including efficient practice, sight-reading, and technique. We call this workshop the "KPM Intensive Bubble". We will offer it live in Klaipeda from July 26 through August 1, 2021 in full compliance with all safety guidelines.

During this intensive week the students will receive 4 individual lessons on their prepared repertoire in addition to workshops on efficient practice, technique, and sight-reading. The week will conclude with two recitals, performed collectively by all of the participants. The course will be taught by the artistic director of KPM, Gintaras Januševičius.

Admission is open to all professional piano students and pianists from 14 to 27 years old with continued presence in Lithuania; due to the unpredictable travel situation we will not be able to accept students who live abroad or have traveled outside of Lithuania after July 12, 2021. The course is limited to 11 participants. The tuition fee is 290€, lodging included.

All lessons and lectures of “KPM Intensive Bubble“ will take place at the Eduardas Balsys Gymnasium of Arts. Participants will be provided with shared practice facilities and rehearsal space 24 hours a day. All students of the course will be lodged at the dormitory of the Gymnasium.

All workshops, and physical training sessions will be taught in Lithuanian or English. Individual piano lessons may be taught in English, Lithuanian, German or Russian.

Participants have free choice regarding their repertoire for individual lessons. We recommend including one or more virtuoso etudes as well as at least one work by a romantic composer.

Concert performances will be professionally recorded, and, after the academy, students will be provided with video recordings of their performances for their own promotion. In addition to this, all students will receive a free photo shoot and two professionally retouched promotional pictures.

Depending on their performance, students of the edition may also be awarded special prizes, including:

  • a full scholarship to attend the international winter piano academy "Feuerwerk" in Einbeck, Germany

  • a recital at the "TangoBrücke" concert and culture house in Einbeck, Germany

  • a recital at the Historic Dr. Barner Sanatory in Braunlage, Germany

  • a recital at the Klaipėda Concert Hall, Lithuania

  • a recital at the Kaunas Philharmonic Society, Lithuania

  • a recital at the M. K. Čiurlionis Museum in Druskininkai, Lithuania
