"Gintaras Januševičius glides, like an albatross. His semi-final and final performances were rare revelations for me; they fall outside the scope of competition <...> because they are neither rankable nor quantifiable. Januševičius has since performed with respected orchestras, including the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, both Lithuanian National and Lithuanian State Symphonic Orchestras, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, etc. He has also appeared at numerous festivals, including the Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdroj, Mozartfest Würzburg, Festival Besancon, Dresdner Musikfestspiele, etc. alongside Tung-Chieh Chuang, Felix Klieser, Gintaras Rinkevičius, Giedrė Šlekytė, Saulius Sondeckis, Jörg Widmann, the Čiurlionis Quartet, etc.

 

Januševičius has been a prize winner and finalist of fifteen music competitions all over the world. Since 2013 he mainly focuses on conceptual solo recitals, combining music, theatrical elements, and narration. His most acclaimed programmes include an 80-minute nightly fantasia "The Dreamcatcher", a New York tribute "The New Colossus", an entertaining take on life story of Chopin, titled "Complete Waltzes by Chopin", as well as "The Little Prince", consisting of 27 french piano miniatures, surrounding Januševičius' narration of the beloved novel. With his recitals Januševičius visited most major cities of Lithuania and Germany as well as New York, Washington, D.C., Rio de Janeiro, and most of the European capitals.

In 2014 Januševičius graduated with distinction from the Hanover University of Music, Theater, and Medias (HMTM Hannover) and holds diplomas in both piano performance and piano education. He studied with Jurgis Bialobžeskis, Bernd Goetzke, and Vladimir Krainev in addition to taking private lessons with Lazar Berman, Valentina Berman, Malcom Bilson, and Matti Raekallio.

 

Simultaneously to his active artistic output, Gintaras Januševičius shares his knowledge and experience in his master classes in USA, Japan, PR China, Brazil, Germany, the United Kingdom, and other countries, most notably at the Royal Academy of Music in London, the HMTM Hannover, the Shenzhen University, the Memphis University, and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Drama. In addition to leading his private piano studio since 2012, in 2020 he joined the faculty of the HMTM Hannover.

Since 2021 Mr. Januševičius co-hosts the music podcast "Bazinis Akordas" on the Lithuanian National Classic Radio. In season 2024-2025 Mr. Januševičius is scheduled to appear on tours, masterclasses, and jury panels in Estonia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
